hello! hello!

hi everyone. ni men hao. i’m blogging from shandong now, blogspot is banned here, but i can post blog entries. life’s good here, a little bit too oily and salty, but it’s good. maybe unexpectedly, i’m doing alright, and i enjoy every single day ever since i left singapore a week ago. china is good. i have so much stories to blog, so many pictures to be posted, but will do it some other time.

wo jiao erlin. wo shi yin ni hua qiao. wo zai xin jia po liuxue. xie xie.

lalalalaa

i’m supposed to be packing now, but i’m just too lazy. will be leaving singapore in less than 48 hours for a 30 days trip. out to a new culture, new language, with new people. i can’t decide if i should worry or be excited about it. so i choose to be non-chalant. lalalalaa.

my sister gave me this link. she told me to think through about the career i would like to have because it’s important especially for girls who are in men-infested dominated field like engineering to be able to enjoy their working life.
Men often apply for careers based first on salary, second on the job, and third on the organisation. But women tend to look at the organisation and what’s on offer first, job second, salary third.
think i heard something like this in management module before.
well i still have three years to go, i think it’s a little bit to early to think about it too much.

sent pat and ian off yesterday. they’re in jakarta now. afterwards, reren, sher and i had a successful sushi buffet in sakae at changi airport. i love salmoonn. we ate so much it lasted for the whole day. i think the waitresses didn’t think we could finish all the food we ordered. but we did. it was the only meal i had yesterday by the way. the buffet now comes with mochi ice cream and fruits and udon. but still only for coloured plates, which means no sashimi, boo.
attended jetan’s commencement in the evening with plue and shoofei. promised plue to bring flowers for her next year at her commencement ;)
and so reren and plue are off my ‘people to meet’ list. but it would be nice to meet them again hehe.

still in ntu

this is my third night in sherly’s dusty nice room in ntu. i always think ntu is a nice place to stay. without the insects. who bit me all over my left arm until it’s very itchy and ugly. grr.

anyway, let’s talk about the people i’ve met the past few days.

met jetan, everyone’s beloved chauffeur in jakarta :p who took the same jkt-sg flight with me, and helped me with my luggages. whom i owe cab fare to. who gets cheated, and ignored in msn. whose commencement is being held tonight. congrats.. celebrations!

met johni, who’s been of much help, always. very much appreciated :)

met my two sisters. one cooks for me, the other one buys me vnc slippers. but i love both all the same, ehem..

met shishu. more like bumped into her, on the bus. i’m so proud of her. you go girlfriend! hope she’ll enjoy her well deserved holiday before the semester starts.

met annie at holland village. six years in sg, i’ve only been twice in holland v. annie is so very cool. she’s a friend who taught me so much in the least time. had drinks at coffee bean and dinner at sushi tei. drinks on me, dinner on her.

met pat. not as often as i’m used to. she’s kinda busy. i keep praying for you, girl.

met ian and family at sgh. be strong.

met the church people. had presentations about van til and friends in youth fellowship, celebrated ko tjeli’s birthday and had for-the-fellowship dinner after church.

met jor. first, for lunch with sherly in jurong point, once for brunch, and every night at sherly’s room. he brings us food, he’s good ;)

met shinfei, who claims not to be a superwoman. she stayed over for two days here and according to her, she got abused by people who are elder sisters.

met researcher ck and roommate for a late dinner just now. he’s always working while everybody’s doing nothing. cheers :)

met sherly. until i’m bored. but she’s such a good host, who threw away her fork. why would you do that?

God debate

got this reading from a mailing list, interesting stuff, i thought harris is very funny..

sam harris vs rick warren

HARRIS: I’m doing my Ph.D. in neuroscience; I’m very close to the literature on evolutionary biology. And the basic point is that evolution by natural selection is random genetic mutation over millions of years in the context of environmental pressure that selects for fitness.

WARREN: Who’s doing the selecting?

HARRIS: The environment. You don’t have to invoke an intelligent designer to explain the complexity we see.

blogging from sherly’s room

i was buying my travel insurance at science coop on friday (sherly heard the word insurance and she said: now i can kick you and you will get money, what a thoughtful friend!) when i got a call which made my day. surprise! surprise! i got my matric card back! i lost it like two months ago, and somebody found it just three days ago. so weird right. i’ll say: sabar itu subur, thank God. just when i was wondering what i should do travelling abroad without any form of identification except my passport. now at least i have a matric card like everybody else in nus.

in ntu now. serene and.. itchy.
